Freak Snow Storm

Brrrrrrr. We haven't seen snow like this in about 20+ years. I called Tim to see what he was doing.. 'building a snowman'. I was expecting a 5' man, but Tim never ceases to surprise. The weiner-dog had no problem playing in snow that was almost as deep as her 6". My camera found a cardinal wondering if I was going to refill the feeder today... brrrr. It's cold out there.

Meet Gunny

Gelica and Gunny had been official occupants for a couple of weeks. Being a 'cat' person I knew that he would eventually (maybe) figure out that he wasn't here for a visit or vacation. It was looking like a great place to live given the humes keep snacks in the main room. But after a serious scolding from his peep to 'leave the bird' alone, Gunny deemed his curiousity wasn't worth the trouble - besides it's a pretty scrawney looking bird with no thrill of a stalk-n-catch.

I found said cat making my desk the object of his nap-time while I worked on scrap pages. What better subject than Gunny for a page.

Halloween Mask

Tim works best under pressure - like come up with a mask in less than 4 hours. Quick trip to Hobby Lobby then back with a plain white mask and some ropes of crepe paper. Now what? he thinks... thinking, thinking. TaDaaa! A black marker, hot glue and there you have it.

Hiking - page 1

Lake Ouachita has a 4 mile trail that meanders through large boulder outcroppings, up and down the side of the mountain and a near the lake shores. It took us about 3.5 hours, including several (ok... a hundred) brief stops to snap photos, take in break-taking sites at the point of the island and a picnic lunch provided by me; carried by Rick in the backpack.
We thought it might rain on us a few times, but the sun always managed to win-out. A perfect day to hike with the weather just cool enough ~ about 65-70. The hickory trees haven't quite turned yet - shoot, dang-it :( but who can plan on these things).
I vote this a top ten in our many hiking treks. Bonus prize to replace the usual summer flowers and fall color - I got great pics of the many colorful and odd mushrooms that bloomed that day. Here are a few favorites.
